Fall Play-Date Ideas

No offense summer, winter, and spring, but fall definitely has you all beat in my heart for best season. Maybe it’s because I live in Florida and the rest of the year I’m either sweating my face off or spending way too much money (ahem, looking at YOU, December) but fall takes the season cake. Something about this season gives me an extra skip in my step, some extra chutzpah if you will, and – as a parent – it gives me just a hint of a creative spark when it comes to entertaining my kids.

If you’re like me and are ready to take parenting head on this fall, here are some of my favorite play-date ideas for the season.

  1. Visit a pumpkin patch together. You know you all want to go to the pumpkin patch. Why not gather up a bunch of your parent friends and make a huge play-date out of it? Just imagine the pictures – so precious! And then, once you’ve all picked out pumpkins, you can all go back to someone’s house and…
  2. Carve your Jack-O-Lanterns.This super messy activity is always a hit with kids. Think of all the giggles you’ll hear if they get to do it with you AND their friends. Perfection!
  3. Have a low-key get-together to make your own holiday cards.Bust out the construction paper, glitter, glue, crayons, and whatever else you have lying around, and invite some kids over to make holiday cards for their family members. Bonus points if they bring over family photos they can use.
  4. Go on a nature walk. The weather is finally beautiful, so get outside! Take the kids on a nature walk and challenge them to point out how different the environment looks now that summer has passed and autumn is in full swing. While you’re out, have the kids gather up as many leaves as they can, and when you get back to the house you can…
  5. Make leaf collages. So beautiful. So easy. SO FALL.

Of course, there are so many other things you can do this season. What are your favorite ways to play during the fall?

As for me, here’s my ultimate play-date: You. Me. Coffee shop. Pumpkin spice lattes. Sans kids.

You down?
